First Post of the New Year With A New Makeup Junkie Contributor!

Happy New Year! Yes, we're 10 days into the new year and I'll admit - I needed an extra week to recover from the busy yet blissful holiday. Plus, it didn't help that I was feeling a little under the weather but I'm back and looking forward to another year full of beauty! To kick off the first post of the New Year I'm excited to introduce a new Makeup Junkie contributor!

Meet Brooke. She's a young, beautiful gal who will be bringing some fresh, new content to Makeup Junkie! She's the only one here that has some true journalism credentials. Her love of writing and classic beauty style is a Makeup Junkie fit!

Brooke's beauty must-haves?

Chi Flat Iron, A&G hair products like Liquid Varnish and Fastfood, Shwarzkopf Osis Dust it, and tons of Loreal Double Extend Mascara! Brooke’s friends and family say that her look just wouldn’t be the same without long black lashes.

No wonder she's got fab hair and gorgeously long lashes! Welcome Brooke! Stay tuned for her first post!

BFTE pics and swatches!

Yesterday, my latest order from Beauty from the Earth arrived, yay! Since it's after the holidays I had some cash to spend, so of course I went straight for BFTE hehe. ;)
My little package arrived safe and sound, even through the random freak blizzard we had yesterday morning.
I got some gorgeous colors I've been wanting, as well as some more off-beat ones to add to my collection. (Flash pic)
Here are my messy lopsided swatch-blobs :D Swatched on my bare arm with just a bit of Pond's cream rubbed in first. These pic was taken in daylight from my window. (You'll want to click these to view full-size!)
Prissy is a light candy pink with low shimmer. Very Vanilla is a silky peachy-pink neutral. Way Up High (from the Wizard of Oz-some collection) is a mostly matte white which rubs down to the slightest hint of gold shimmer!
Autumn is a bold metallic gold, so gorgeous. My finger was gilded after swatching, I felt like I dipped it in the golden pool from the Voyage of the Dawntreader movie lol. Chocolate is a dark brown with lots of bronzey shimmer (not glitter) so the overall effect is a warm bronzey brown. It does resemble chocolate, actually. I thought I needed more neutrals and I'm glad I got this. :3
Rome... I can't even describe this color. It is what you see here, a red-toned plum-purple with darker cool purple/blue highlights. Stunning. Big Ego is much nicer than I thought it would be; I thought it was more like a black-based purple, but it's not. It's just a gorgeous deep blue-purple with some lighter shimmer. It's a bit multi-dimensional which I love; the colors change a bit with the light, getting lighter/deeper and more blue/purple. It's one of my favorites now! I think this picture most accurately shows 1939; a green/black base with light green shimmer/sparkle. The overall effect is a dark shimmery green-black.
Black is just a matte black, fairly opaque as blacks go, which you can see here. Could be applied wet or over a black base to deepen the color. I've wanted Tickle Me forever, and it's just what I hoped it would be. I'd call it turquoise leaning to teal, very highly pigmented with low shimmer. A bright pearly gorgeous color! And of course Peacock is one of my absolute favorites, it's just a beautiful color. I have the sample but I had to get it since it was the COTW, especially since they used my picture to vote! ;D
This is one of the few flash pics I took, most didn't turn out well. I love this pic though; you can see the colors and textures so well, and I love these particular ones together. <333
A last bonus blurry flash pic for extra sparkle!!!
And that's pretty much it for this order! Sorry the swatches/pics/descriptions are kinda all over the place lol. I feel a little rusty since my time off from blogging so bear with me. ;P

Have a lovely weekend! <3

Mini Meijer Haul

Top, Left to Right: OPI The Color to Watch and Glitzerland.  Bottom, Left to Right: ELF gloss in Fairy, Maybelline Colossal washable mascara in Classic Black, Wet N Wild eyeliner pencils, Black Radiance kohl eye pencil, Studio M dual-ended brush kit.
I was out in the Midwest between Christmas and New Year's and did some fun shopping at Meijer. It's a chain very similar to the Walmart Supercenters; they have clothes, food, produce, shoes, cosmetics, toys, even pets! Basically anything and everything. :D My sister and I came across some nice deals including cheap/discounted cosmetics, which is always awesome.
Left to Right: Silver Blue, Taupe, Cool Green, Turquoise, and Deep Blue.
They had these 93 cent Wet N Wild eyelinerpencils so I got some nice colors. I really wanted a purple too but it was pretty slim pickins as far as color choices, they were sold out of most shades.
Left to Right: Deep Blue, Turquoise, Cool Green, Taupe, Silver Blue. Bottom: Black Radiance black kohl pencil.
The one that caught my eye was Turquoise, very nice color! They look a little brighter here in the flash than in person.
No flash. Taupe was the softest in texture, not ideal for the brow filler I got it for, but I'll still try it.:)
OPI Swiss collection was on clearance for half off! So I got 2: The Color to Watch(L), and Glitzerland(R).
Milani polishes in Pool Party(L) and Pink Out Loud(R).
My sister and I picked out these Milani polishes because they looked so pretty. She tried the blue yesterday and sadly it is VERY sheer, more like a glaze than a polish. She had to do like 4 coats to get it moderately opaque, but it was so thick it smudged like mad. :(
We haven't tried the pink yet but I love the pink sparkles, very pretty.
More sparkles! (And some gunk left behind by the price sticker. :P)
As soon as I walked in the store I saw this set and had to get it. It was $10 which wasn't too bad for such a roomy case and extra bags. I was wishing I had something like this while packing for the trip, lol. Now I have it for next time. ;)
I've been wanting a pair of warm boots forever, and these were on clearance from $35 to $18! Perfect.
We also bought bucketloads of this Meijer brand soap haha. I tried it at a friend's when I was there a few years ago and loved it. It is foamy so a little goes a long way, and it's not too drying. Plus, it smells AMAZING. I walk around sniffing my hands after I use it, lol.
So that was my makeup haul from Meijer. (I wish we had Meijer around here!)
Hope everyone's week is going well, I'm enjoying catching up on your blogs. There's so much to look at though... you've all been busy while I was slackin haha. I have some more hauls coming soon, and swatches yippee! Hopefully a look or two as well.

And if you haven't yet, check out my official Makeup Fancy Facebook page over there on the right --->
Take care! <3

CG Thick Lash Mascara

We were taking our oldest son to a birthday party and I thought I had gotten myself completely ready when a quick glance in the mirror showed otherwise. I had put on my False lashes like normal but then didn't put any mascara on to blend them. It was VeRy visible to me that I had black lashes resting on my natural brown ones....WHAT KIND OF A MAKEUP ARTIST AM I????? My husband said he couldn't tell, but.....he's a guy.....enough said. We stopped at a drug store and I grabbed the cheapest mascara I could find (that WaSn'T the green and pink bottle disaster!*) and it turned out to be this one. It cost just over $5 and I figured I could do a review on it as well. I liked that it was thick and did just what I wanted it to. I even liked the smaller wand, which I don't normally. I didn't love that quality as much when I used it on my natural lashes unfortunately. Give me a large curved wand any day when I'm not wearing my falsies! The only thing that left me a little blah was that it seemed to take a while to dry. Like I was scared to blink too soon...which leads to me keeping my eyes wide open like a dummy...which leads to my son never getting invited to another birthday party. Let's just say that it is worth the money for me since I am usually wearing false lashes but I'll be sure to give myself a few ticks of the clock before I step out into the cold with wide open eyes!

*I am always shocked and dismayed to see posters and signs all around the Maybelline Great Lash mascara as saying it's the #1 purchased mascara. That it's the makeup artists secret (c'mon Carmindy...REALLY???). The only reason that it may be #1 is that people pick it up out of habit or they don't KnOw any better!!! Let's change this ladies by spreading the word that it is pure JUNK!!! The only "secret" to me still having it in my kit is for when I actually need the model to have smeared makeup. Yuck, yuck YUCK!!!!!
