Contact Lenses Reviews

I finally got some contact lenses. I have never tried contacts lenses before and was super excited. I picked the most natural kind that I could find (you know me, I'm a natural kind of gal!)

I got them from http://www.pinkyparadise.com/ They have a huge collection of contacts lenses as well as lashes and BB cream. Their tag link is "your eye make-up one-stop online beauty store"

They also gave me a coupon code, Use the code -
 "TheMakeupChair"
and receive a cute animal lens case and free gift.
What I received: Animal contact lenses case (little orange piggy) Cute free gift (velcro hair grips)  The contacts wrapped up.

I didn't get these as prescription lenses even though I wear glasses I would only get my prescription at my opticians.
Caution Notes:
You are best advised to consult your eye doctor before wearing any contact lens. It is your responsibilities to minimize the risk of wearing lenses. Kindly please read the wear & care guide carefully to ensure proper handling of lenses (which is provided in the website). The rule of thumb for your eye safety is, if you experience any discomfort, please remove the lens immediately.

Its important to use multi-purpose solution to clean the lens case and lenses for before use.

I love how natural these look, Totally different! Sinead xx

My sister on Korean TV!

Screenshot from the show, MBC's KPOP Cover Dance Festival Roadshow 40120
Some of you may remember my sister Abby (Singinferyoo) participating in the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival competition; I made a post not long ago about our trip to LA where she auditioned again in front of celebrity judges and was chosen as a finalist to go to South Korea! You may also remember me mentioning that MBC network in South Korea is doing a multi-part tv special about it. Well yesterday, after many weeks of anticipation and some delays, the LA episode finally aired! You can watch it on youtube where some users have uploaded it. I'll post links in case anyone is interested:

Abby's segments:

Entire LA episode:

The first links are clips of just Abby from the show. The last four are parts 1-4 of the whole show! If you're interested in dancing, competitions, K-Pop, or the groups Miss A and f(x), you'll enjoy watching the show in it's entirety ;)

The videos linked may eventually be removed due to copyright infringement, you know how youtube is. ;P If that happens, just search for keywords like: Singinferyoo Abby kpop cover dance festival roadshow LA, etc.

FYI, some of our friends, my family, and myself also make appearances on this show, so watch for me! haha xD
It's been a great experience, and it's not over yet! What do I mean by that? Well, you'll have to watch the show! ;) Thanks especially to all of you who have wished Abby well; your kindness and support means everything to her.<3

Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!

Laugh With Me

Funniest kid costumes EVER!!!!! I was seriously dying when I saw these and shed a tear or two from laughing so hard! Can you STAND it????? I wanted to change my kids costumes right then and there but alas, Wolverine and the Blue Power Ranger it is. Maybe next year especially since my youngest has super curly hair and the other is stick straight...Bah ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!

Mascara Review!

Okay ladies I want you to pick which lashes look the best 1 or 2????

I am trying Maybelline - one by one mascara and Maybelline - the colossal cat eye mascara.

Maybelline - one by one mascara - "Eye Catching volume in one clean sweep! The Lash Catcher Brush has 300 bristles - that's up to 3 bristles per lash. The Lash Catcher brush catches, coats and de-clumps your lashes." (Superdrug Website) No 2.

Maybelline - the colossal cat eye mascara -  "Full volume, flared corners, fiercely colossal lashes...in just one stroke! Discover Maybelline's new Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eyes mascara.
The new feline applicator stylises lashes to a full fan of wild volume – it’s savagely sexy! Fills out lashes up to 9x the volume, with fabulous cat-like corners instantly. Only our lush collagen-enriched formula creates Colossal feline volume in one stroke. The result? Our sexiest, most savage colossal look: The Feline Flares! It’s wild!" (Superdrug Website) No 1.

Personally I like the look of number 2. Its even and more define ;)
The funny thing is the colossal (yellow) is a volume mascara but it actually gives just way more length then anything else. However it clumpy and wet and I actually hate it, very annoyed because I love "One by One" and I am running low on it and I just wasted my money on the new colossal.
The one by one (red) defines the lashes with a totally natural look, its waterproof even in the shower (seriously) and I love using it!

To use it up I use the yellow and then the red to de-clump and volumize the lashes!

I would love to hear what you think though, so comment below with which one you like,
                                                                                                                                  Sinead xx

Fall Beauty Review: Say "Boo!" This Halloween With Shu Uemura Tokyo Lash Bar 2011

As fun as ghoul and gore are for Halloween, nothing is more exciting to look at than fantasy makeup. The mix of colours and detail tell a beautiful story. You just need a big imagination and of course some handy makeup and tools to execute it. Shu Uemura's Tokyo Lash Bar collection of fantasy lashes are the perfect way to add some drama and intrigue to your overall look. Known for their extensive line of lashes, you'll find anything from natural to sci-fi to fantasy. I've used their everyday lashes on my clients (provided by them of course), and the luxe finishes and dramatic designs make these the cream of the crop! If I could afford to, I would stock my kit full of Shu lashes!

If you haven't thought of visiting your local Tokyo Lash Bar already, do keep them in mind for a unique Halloween costume. Here are some fun and fabulous ideas to try on this Halloween!

Shu Uemura Tutu Laceflare Falsies ($28 USD): These are my absolute favourite! These tutu inspired lashes are fun and flirty. Fulfill your childhood dreams of being a ballerina! For a dramatic flare, pair these lashes with a dark smokey eye much like the picture above and red bold lips. And if you want these lashes to really stand out, think fairy ballerina. Create a flawless canvas with lots of gold shimmer. Use a white shadow all over the lid from lash to brow bone - don't worry if you get white on your brows. Then load up the eyes with gold glitter and shimmer. Be creative - create a glimmering masquerade mask around the eyes or apply on the outer part of the eyes and on the cheekbones a temples. Apply a cream base shadow in white or close to your skin colour first (even Vaseline works) to adhere the glitter to your skin. Use a liquid liner winged out to define the eyes. Finish the lips with a red lippie and style your hair into a classic ballerina bun.

Up and coming makeup artist, Arianne for The Glitter Geek, created a masquerade look using these lashes! Check it out here!

Shu Uemura Mini Fancy Bon Bon Lashes ($22 USD):  How fun are these accent lashes?? If you want to be more colouful this Halloween, these lashes are a must. Do something really fun and bold on the eyes. Think circus but like you're on a runway. No scary clowns allowed just super cute ones! Choose a gradient of colours on the eyes in reds, yellows, oranges and greens. Or even more fun - think candies! Be a human lollipop - kidding! Use candy inspired shades to create a sweet and flirty look.

Shu Uemura Ethnic Charm Lashes ($65 USD): Another gorgeous pair of falsies, this luxurious pair will make your outfit. It's a pricey pair so save these for a fancy Halloween bash. The mix of feathers and colourful beads will definitely make your eyes stand out. Think tribal warrior princess, but if you're feeling more groovy throw on your bell bottoms, platforms, a peace sign necklace and make love not war. Peace dude!

For tips on how to apply fake lashes click on a past post here. Jump to step #7.

Whatever you decide have fun, be safe and munch on plenty o' chocolates! Happy Halloween!

Have you tried any of these lashes? Love 'em? Hate 'em? Want 'em?

Fall Beauty Review 2011: Shu Uemura My Lips Are Matte About You

I've tried a lot of matte lipsticks, but Shu Uemura's Rouge Unlimited Supreme Mattes ($36 CAD) are a dream. For someone that has chronically dry lips, I'm so drawn to matte finishes. Damn you flaky chapped lips and dry weather! These matte lippies are like none other I've tried though. They are soft, smooth and have a soft-focus powdery finish. I actually found that compared to other matte lipsticks, these did not accentuate my fine lines or chapped lips. However, exfoliating is essential for matte lips and while the flakes aren't as noticeable you can still see them. The soft-focus finish just made my lips look smoother and looks more natural. Other matte lipsticks can look and feel heavy like it's sitting on the lips.

The line is available in 6 shades: Angelic Pink (light pink with cool undertones), Evil Pink (bright warm pink), Darling Beige (nude beige), Alluring Brown (brown with rose undertone), Sensual Red (brick red with gold shimmer), and Brilliant Gold (sparkly gold glitter - Artist shade meant for mixing and layering).

Evil Pink caught my eye instantly. I wore this a lot towards the end of the summer when my skin was nice and bronzey. Angelic Pink and Darling Beige have a lot more white in them and are on the cooler side. Both look more like nudes on me which I love with a smokey eye. To make it work for my skin tone, I added a gloss over top with warmer undertones. If I were to reference a celebrity, Angelic Pink would so be a shade Kim Kardashian would wear. Alluring Brown is actually a great neutral and works for many skin tones. It has a rosier undertone so it makes this brown very wearable. Brilliant Gold is exactly that - brilliant. This looks pretty on its own when you want a subtle colour on the lips with gold shimmer or to perk up a flat lipstick or gloss.

Matte lips can look very polished with a very clean and flawless makeup look. Soft neutral eyes with lots of mascara, sculpted cheeks are a great fall look. To give the skin a subtle glow, add a highlighter to the high plains of the cheeks. To off-set shimmery or metallic eyes, matte lips are the perfect compliment. And if matte lips seem to heavy for you, wear the lipstick like a stain by pressing the colour into the lips with your finger. This will look softer and more natural.

Have you tried Shu Uemura's new matte lipsticks? Love it? Hate it? Want it? To view swatches, visit my gorgeous friend, Arianne's blog, Glitter Geek!

New Hair!!

Dark to Light Brown at last!

So for the longest time I have wanted lighter hair. I have tried lots of light brown shades but they have always made my hair even darker. (Home dying is a pain but I can't be bothered with salons)
So I had no choice but to use a blonde hair dye to get the golden brown shade that I have always wanted.

Nice&Easy Perfect 10

I am not denying it was a risk but luckily it worked out! Super happy with the way it turned out, I actually wouldn’t mind going even lighter one day (we’ll see)

What I used: Nice&Easy Perfect 10 Medium Golden Blonde 8G.
(I had to use two boxes because I have too much hair!)

I was lucky is didn't turn orange but I picked the darkest of the blonde shades, I did this once before a few years ago and it went orange which totally washed me out, so be warned home dying is tricky!

*Word of warning home dying dark to light can make the hair turn orange so always do a strand test!

New BFTE swatches, pic heavy ;)

Last Sunday night I ordered from BFTE because I wanted the CotW. My order was promptly shipped the very next morning, as per usual BFTE procedure, but took abnormally long to arrive; I least I think it was abnormal, but then I'm not yet used to the postal system in this new town.
Anyway, my goodies arrived today and I was squeeing like a little kid on Christmas morning, lol. I took swatches right away so as not to lose the morning light. I think they turned out okay, though I'm still trying to figure out how to take macro shots that look as good as the ones I used to take with the old camera. (R.I.P.)

Here's what I got! (Remember to click the pics for large version!)
A sample of Envy because everyone on the BFTE FB page always uses it in their looks, for my 365 prize I chose Bombshell because I saw it in a look and loved it, a sample of Copper Cauldron because I suddenly felt I needed it lol.
My other 365 prize Mutiny (middle) because I'd been wondering what sort of color it was, there's no pic on the site, but then I finally saw a swatch on Heather's blog and I had to have it! Tough Men Wear Pink was the CotW, and the reason I had to order. I saw someone post a look using this color with Autumn and it was simply stunning.
My free sample of Dragon Slayer, I was ecstatic to get this sample! Weeks ago someone posted pics of this brand new color when she got it as her free sample; the following week it was the CotW, and sold out midweek! I really wanted to try it so I was absolutely thrilled to find this in my order :D

You gotta see these swatches! I didn't edit them at all, only cropping. All swatches were done with small dry brushes on bare skin prepped with a tiny bit of Pond's cream, as usual. :)
(Btw, you can also view all my BFTE swatches in their album on my Makeup Fancy FB page!)
From left: Envy, Bombshell, Copper Cauldron, Mutiny, Dragon Slayer, Tough Men Wear Pink.
Mutiny is very sparkly! Dragonslayer is smooth and super pigmented. Pink is silky and almost matte with a slight golden rub.
Envy is lime green with gold sparkles, Bombshell is dark green with green sparkles; both are very sparkly. Copper Cauldron is a warm taupey brown with light shimmer, I love it!!
Can you see the pink sparkles in Mutiny??

So there you go! There were a lot of pictures but I figured why not try to show the colors in every light from every angle so you really get a feel for them ;)
I just saw the new Color of the Week on the Facebook page and man... I want it, lol. Sadly though I can't afford any more makeup right now, so I guess it will have to wait until next time.
Thanks so much for reading!
