Review: mark. Juice Gems (an old favorite)

I don't talk about mark much and I'm not really sure why. I think it's partly because I'm a Rep and I don't want to seem like a self-promoter (even though that's the whole point of being a Rep... lol). I got started with mark back in 2008 when I was just getting really into makeup, and actually mark had a lot to do with me becoming a makeup and beauty blogger. I bought a ton of mark makeup that first year but have since moved on to explore and try new brands and products.

However, there are some favorite mark gems (no pun intended) that have stayed with me through the years, and one of those is Juice Gems gloss:
These are my glosses; the second tube from the right has some gum on it from keeping it in my purse so much. Two things I always have in my purse, gloss and gum! ;)
One of the things I'm not as fond of about mark is that they are always introducing new products and discontinuing old ones, which means something you fall in love with may not be available next month. (This always happens to me!)
Thankfully though, these glosses seem to be part of the permanent line since I first tried them in 2008 and they're still available today, though I only saw 3 out of 4 of these shades on the site. I've owned and used more than these 4 you see pictured but these are my favorite ones.
With flash, left to right: Raspberry, Cherry Pop, Pomegranate, and Snow Peach.
No flash.
The flash picture is more accurate color-wise but neither is completely true-to-life. There's no sun today to get a perfect picture but these give a good enough idea.

Product info:

Color:
-Raspberry: Dark raspberry shade, more berry-toned than seen in the pictures. (On my lips it doesn't look this red, not sure why it shows red in the pictures.) I especially love this color for Fall/Winter since it gives a beautiful berry lip.
-Cherry Pop: Bright red-orange with copper sparkles, very pretty alone or over another lipcolor.
-Pomegranate: Bright coral pink, my #1 favorite go-to gloss for Spring/Summer!
-Snow Peach has a barely noticeable peachy tone.
-Honeydew (not pictured): A very pale, slightly pinkish gloss with tiny sparkles.
-Fig (not pictured): A sheer shimmery tan color that was mostly shimmer/sparkles, I think.
-Papaya (not pictured): A sheer pale lilac pink.

Opacity - They are all sheer to semi-sheer glosses:
-Raspberry is probably the most pigmented here, it does give a very nice berry hue to the lips.
-Pomegranate is probably second most pigmented; I use it when I want a bright pop of color that looks fresh and natural.
-Cherry Pop isn't very pigmented, it just gives a slight reddish orange tint to the lips, but the sparkles really stand out. (They can get a little gritty if you reapply this gloss many times throughout the day but it's not horrible.)
-Snow Peach isn't very strong on my pigmented lips, it just looks mostly clear; if you have very light lips naturally, it might give the slightest hint of peachy color.

Smell - Each has a smell corresponding to the shade/name/fruit:
-Raspberry smells and tastes like raspberry. I really love this scent/flavor, one of my favorites of all the Juice Gems.
-Cherry Pop: I love the way this gloss smells, like cherry, but not the cough syrup kind of cherry scent that some glosses have. (NYX glosses, for example, which I personally love but some people say it smells like cough syrup and hate it.) This gloss smells like cherry jam or cherry pie, slightly tart and yummy.
-Pomegranate: Also one of my favorite scents but hard to describe.. I guess it smells fruity and sweet, like a fruity candy maybe? Delicious...
-Snow Peach: It smells like peaches; if you've ever had this drink refreshing peach water, it smells exactly like that!
-Honeydew: I think I squealed when i first smelled this one; it smells obviously like melon, but more heavenly. Heavenly melon, lol♥
-Fig: I don't remember what Fig smelled like. Sorry!
-Papaya: I forget what this one smelled like also, I just remember I didn't care for it because I thought it smelled a bit perfumey.
(They do have a bit of a taste but I find it pleasant and it does fade after a little while.)

Feel/Texture:
These glosses are a little thick and a little sticky; I've never tried MAC lip glass but I'd imagine it might be sort of similar. I know people either love or hate the stickiness of MAC glosses. For me, the stickiness of these Juice Gems helps to seal in the moisture and keep it on my lips. These glosses last a long time, even through eating and drinking. I like them in Winter when my lips have trouble staying supple, and I even use these overnight sometimes when my lips are really dry; I just rub on some chapstick or coconut oil and then layer on a little of this gloss, and it doesn't wear off by morning. Stickiness also means my lips stay shiny even after the gloss part has worn off, making my lips look full and pretty longer than a regular gloss.

Price:
-$7.50 for .05 FL OZ from a mark. Rep or mark.'s website. Feel free to use my Rep link if you order: http://epenn.mymarkstore.com/
(They also often give these out as GWP or do deals like buy two Juice Gems and get one free.)

Final thoughts:
-I love these glosses because they give that super shiny, wet "juicy lips" effect with just a hint of color. They look great on their own or amazing over a lipcolor.  They also smell and taste amazing and supposedly have real fruit extracts to condition your lips. A tube is .05 FL OZ which is I think about the size of any standard lipgloss tube these days. They last a long time since you don't need to use much on your lips. I've repurchased before and I'll repurchase again since these have been a longtime favorite of mine for the last 5 years. I love them♥

Review: NYX "Citrine" Black Label Lipstick

Hey there! In this post I bring you one of my new favorite lip products...
NYX Black Label Lipstick in Citrine♥

I have been really into bright orange and coral lip products lately. (Gearing up for Spring, I guess!) I got this beauty in a recent Cherry Culture haul and I love it!
Left to right: Wet N' Wild MegaLast "Stoplight Red", NYX BLL "Citrine", Wet N' Wild MegaLast "Purty Persimmon".
I wanted to swatch this lippie alongside other colors to show the difference since it can be hard to tell the shade from a single swatch. Here I have Citrine beside a red and another orange; you can see how much more warm and orange it is beside Stoplight Red. Citrine actually looks pretty similar to Purty Persimmon, but Citrine is more of a true orange whereas Purty Persimmon is slightly more red/coral.

Me wearing Citrine alone. The color is very saturated on camera; it may look slightly less red in person.
Me wearing Citrine with mark Juice Gems gloss in Cherry Pop over top.
I wanted to see what this lipstick would look like with a sparkly gloss over it, so I dabbed on a reddish-orange gloss (mark Juice Gems gloss in Cherry Pop) and spread it out with my pinky. It created a super wet and juicy finish and the copper sparkles added dimension. I love this combination!♥

This lippie is the perfect balance of red and orange, and it's bright and bold. I think it looks great with my fair skin and makes me dream of Summer days.
The formula is nice, it applies well and has that lovely grape scent common with the Black Labels. I love that smell :)
I also got NYX Orange lip pencil (which I will save for another post) and I think the two would look perfect together, however you don't absolutely need a lip pencil with this lipstick. I'm not wearing pencil in the photos and it looks fine, right? ;)

So how about you? Any favorite orange lip products?

Some recent looks :)

This is an update with a few makeup looks I haven't posted yet; I think I mentioned the computer issues I've been having, and that extends to pictures. I got a new used laptop this past weekend but in the transfer process, everything I'd saved on my harddrive since August was erased, including all my makeup pictures. :( I've managed to find some here and there on my sister's laptop and my camera card (thank goodness I don't erase my cards right away!) so it's not a complete loss. I just wanted to get these posted before something else happens, lol!

Now, on to the looks! (Please click for max detail!)
This was my look for Christmas day, a green/gold semi-smokey cat eye and bright red lip.

Products:
Face/Cheeks:
-mark. Powder Buff in Nude
-BFTE Cosmetics' Butt Naked as highlighter
Eyes:
-Lime Crime Makeup Candy Eyed Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer
BFTE Cosmetics shadows in:
-Sassafras (outer lid)
-Autumn (inner lid)
-Ornamental (tearduct)
-Butt Naked (highlight)
-Urban Decay Naked Basics palette in crease (Think I used Naked 2 and Faint)
-MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack for winged liner
-Maybelline Mega Plush mascara
Lips:
-NYX lipliner pencil in Hot Red
-Wet N' Wild MegaLast lipstick in Stoplight Red
-mark. Glow Baby Glow Hook-Up gloss in Blow Kisses (opaque red)

I left my brows naked, lol. I didn't have tons of time to do makeup since we traveled to another state for lunch with family, but my Aunt told me twice how much she loved my red lips. Later on I also added Lime Crime Makeup's Carousel Gloss in Candy Apple which added a gorgeous glossy shine and a sparkling ruby finish. Love it♥

This was a quick look I did to go out for sushi with my family on Saturday.

Products:
Face/Cheeks:
-Belleme BB Cream in Ivory
-Boots No.7 Radiant Glow Concealer in shade I
-mark. Powder Buff in Nude
-Darling Girl Cosmetics blushes in Secret Star and Cheeky
-BFTE Cosmetics' Butt Naked as highlighter
Eyes:
-BFTE Cosmetics Eye and Lip Primer
-Naked Basics palette shadows in Foxy and Walk of Shame (lid), Crave (eyeliner), and Faint/Crave (brows)
-BFTE Cosmetics' shadows in Butt Naked (highlight) and the mauve neutral from their Miss Conduct holiday set (Which is still available, btw!)
-Maybelline Mega Plush mascara
Lips:
-NYX Megs Shine glosses in Sugar Pie and Smokey Look

And um I think that's about it. I actually filled in my brows a little for this look using the Naked Basics palette; man, that little cutie does everything! (Review coming soon!) I also didn't realize my lips were still a little stained from the Revlon Cherries in the Snow lippie I'd been wearing the night before; that's what those bright pink spots are.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed seeing these and I hope to be posting more looks regularly from now on. I also have tons of product hauls, swatches, and reviews to post so stick around for those! ;)

Thanks for reading!♥

Some vacation looks

Hey guys, it's been a while! I've been on a sort of unofficial hiatus because my computer is broken every other day so posting has been almost impossible lol. Anyway, I just got back from a nice beach vacation so I thought I'd share the handful of looks I did on the trip. They're simpler and more wearable than some of the looks I usually post but I tried to balance it out by making them nice and colorful :) I used very few products and all shadows are from BFTE Cosmetics. If you'd like to see the details, keep reading! And don't forget to click the pics to view larger sizes.

This was the first look I did, I call it Purple Pop because I could not think of a good name that didn't sound cheesey. I wanted purple to go with my magenta shirt; I don't know how that goes together but in my mind at the time, it did. ;P

Products:
-Primer: Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Base: Urban Decay "Ransom" pencil (creased badly!)
-Lid: Grape
-Crease and lower lashline: Sycamore

-Highlight(s): Whisper (tearduct) and Butt Naked (browbone)
-Liner: Urban Decay Zero or Perversion pencil, forget which..
-Mascara: Cover Girl Lash Perfection

I wear this look often when I want color but nothing too OTT. I'm in love with Sycamore, it's such a pretty brown but it also has a little mauve or purple or pink undertone to it. I don't recommend using the purple pencil as a base, there was barely any makeup left on my lid by the end of the day. Horrifying!

I call this one Antique Green, another super simple look. I only took about 4 pictures and this was the only one that wasn't blurry.

-Primer/Base: Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Lid: Orionis (entire lid), Sassafras (inner half)
-Crease: Canyon

-Highlight(s): Butt Naked
-Liner(s): Sephora Liner Electro in Khaki Electro (line lid and deepen crease) and Urban Decay -Perversion (upper tightline)
-Mascara: Maybelline Mega Plush in Deepest Black
Green is my fall-back color. (In my mind green is a neutral, lol.) I'm IN LOVE wish Sassafras and I wish I could have gotten the Fall collection just to have a full jar of this. it's the perfect shade of goldish-green, or maybe it's a greenish-gold... either way, it's my perfect shade and I know I'll be using this baggie up quickly. :(
I bought a new mascara at Walmart the day before and used it in this look; it's the newish Maybelline Mega Plush which was recommended by several makeup friends and so far I really like it!

I call this look Golden Amber. I wanted something neutral since I didn't know what I'd be wearing that day, and also there was a possibility of going out to dinner so I wanted something that would look good with different outfits. In short, I wanted something neutral, but of course I always go for a neutral color rather than browns or blacks, etc.

-Primer and base: Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Lid: Amber (entire lid), Bubbly (over Amber), Ornamental (crease, tearduct and inner third).
-Highlight: Butt Naked
-Liner: Urban Decay Perversion pencil (lid winged out and tightlined with brush)
-Mascara: Maybelline Mega Plush in Deepest Black.

I ended up wearing this look all afternoon on the beach and then out to dinner so there were indeed several changes of attire involved. ;)

This was my favorite of the bunch; I'd had this look in mind for weeks beforehand and even had a name picked out. I call it Avocado Melon :D

-Lid: Treason (outer half), Sassafras (inner half)
-Crease: Melon
-Highlights: Ornamental (tearduct and over Melon), Butt Naked (browbone)
-Liner: MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (winged out on lid and tightlined between lashes)
-Mascara: Maybelline Mega Plush in Deepest Black.
When my sister saw me she asked if I was wearing false lashes and I had the pleasure of telling her I wasn't. :) I'm so glad I waited to do this look until I had Sassafras because it truly was perfect. I love how this turned out and I'll definitely be doing it again.

So there you have it! Simple and colorful looks that are wearable for whatever. The primer helped them to last until I took it off at night with minimal fading/creasing. (Except the purple look but that was the pencil's fault.) I kept everything else very light, using nothing on my brows and just chapstick/gloss on my lips. On my skin I used mark. face primer, Maybelline Dream Foam, and mark. Powder Buff. No blush since my face was kind of red and broken out. :( That being the case, and since pictures amplify redness/blemishes, I did touch up the pics a bit so my skin wasn't distracting too much from the eye makeup which was really the focus. I wasn't gifted with perfect skin and I hate caking on a pound of product just to make it look normal when I can just use a program to adjust the photos a bit. Don't worry about my pics looking fake though, there's still plenty of pores and pimples to prove they're real lol. ;)
Anyway, hope you enjoyed seeing these looks! I'm going to try and do makeup more often so if there's anything you want to see, please let me know in a comment.
Thanks for reading!

Singinferyoo: Pinkie Pie look!

Hey guys, check out this sweet look by my sister Abby (singinferyoo) inspired by Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic!
Please click the link to see more details on her Makeupbee! (And Follow/Luv while you're there!)

My sisters and I decided to do a little series of looks based on characters from the show. Abby wanted Pinkie Pie because Pinkie is her favorite pony; their personalities are identical, lol. I think this look embodies both Pinkie and Abby perfectly! I adore the bright colors, the pink brows, the little balloon details, and I love the way she did the eyeliner!
Remember to check out her Makeupbee to see the full look and all the details :)

Coming soon... Applejack! ;)

Look: Gold-Foiled Lips

I'm not sure where this post falls in the 90 Day Challenge, I guess I got too messed up to continue lol. I'll just try to keep posting as much as I can but I think it will be nice to get back to quality posts rather than trying to post any old junk every day. I'm a quality over quantity girl, in case you haven't noticed. ;)
This is a look I did for fun yesterday because I wanted to play with lips. I decided randomly to do a foiled gold lip and the rest sort of evolved from there. I kind of wanted it to be slightly fairyish but it didn't turn out looking like anything extraordinary. I also had in mind the sort of film-noir silent movie style but I don't know if it's visible.
No flash.
I think this is closer color to real life, you can see how bronzey the lower-left outer corner looks here.

Products:

Skin/Cheeks:
-Mehron Celebre hD Pro creme foundation (applied better this time but still experimenting)
-Darling Girl Cosmetics "Secret Star" blush (cheeks to temples)
-mark. Powder Buff in Nude (forehead)
-mark. powder to set

Eyes:
-UDPP
-UD "Zero" pencil (on eyes)
-BFTE "Very Vanilla" (lids and browbones)
-BFTE "Jumping Bean" (crease)
-BFTE "Mississippi Mud" (crease)
-Shu Uemura lash curler
-Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara
-Ardell #110 Black (these look so similar to my natural lashes!)
-Sephora white pencil (waterline)
-CS 88 Palette, medium and dark brown shadows (on brows, applied damp)

Lips:
-BFTE "Halo" (inner lips)
-BFTE "Dragon Slayer" (outer corners)
-Mon Ennui Pigment Potion for lips
-liquid concealer around lips

I still love Secret Star blush! It looks downright bubblegum in the baggie but after I apply it it turns into the sweetest natural flush.<3
I tried out the pigment potion I got from Mon Ennui for the first time and I have to say I really like it. There may be something similar one could use, maybe just a clear gloss even. But this stuff mixed well with the pigment, applied smoothly to my lips, and stayed on for the rest of the night even through eating, though there was a little fading, but the color was definitely still on my lips. I applied it with a stiff flat eyeliner brush and I like how the lips turned out, though it's hard to see the distinction in colors in these photos. The outer corners were much more bronzey in real life.
By the time I finished the look the setting sun was behind clouds so it was kind of dark. I edited these pics a bit more than I usually do, especially the second one which was taken without flash in my room and looked really dark/yellow. The first one was taken in front of the window with flash.

I didn't end up going away for the weekend so that's cool. Btw, my contest ends in less than 8 hours so if you still want to vote you're welcome to head over there and help keep me from getting bumped out of the top 10! ;)
Hope you're having a good weekend and thanks for reading!<3

Day 56 Becky's Patriotic Makeup Tutorial

Disclaimer: there are many things I would do differently that I have learned over the last year (this is from 2011) I have tried to type in my corrections and advice along with the original photos. Enjoy and please send us a photo if you try this, we'd love to see it!!
-Becky (and Emily)

Step one : fresh face and then do your foundation/concealer or whatever you like. (I waited a while, forgive my naked face for the photos!)

Step 2, make a plan! I used Beauty From The Earth Mineral shadows.

Step 3 after using primer over face, Use NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in: Milk

4: Sticker stars!

5: (Should have started with the Red crease, but here I began with my base color.Peacock.)

Added red to my crease. and added more peacock to my lids.
Then 6: start adding Milk pencil to bottom lid area.

7: Using a fine brush, DAB/PAT red/dark pink shadow in bottom lid area. note: Black area = auto red-eye correction!

There should be no black eyeshadow whatsoever.

8: Using Blue liquid eyeliner from mark. girl in Blue Chrome, add blue stripes and winged line to top and bottom area.

9: Adding more definition, don't be afraid to thicken the eyeliner.

10: Remove stars and using white eyeliner, add a little to the vacant area.
Touching up more of the bottom red, and added some peacock to the bottom eyeliner. See the green sheen

11: Using white eyeliner, add definition to the outer wings, around the red.

12: personal choice- using the Blue Chrome eyeliner, I added some drawn stars. I could have done it on a little paper and pressed the shape on while wet, rather than drawing in the mirror. xD

13: Don't forget your mascara and curled eyelashes. Also defining your eyebrows is a good idea. Using Spellbound, a dark blue- I defined my crease over the blue, and the eyeliner a little better

14: I used False eyelashes for this, but in the end they weren't much different from my natural ones.

15: For my lips, I consequently used a white base and then put red over it, this made my lips look more full, we also added red glitter which really made it dazzle. *NOTE BY EMILY: The red lippie is #911D "Stoplight Red" by Wet N' Wild. I know you wanted to ask! ;)*
OK firecracker! you're ready!

Have a great summer and God Bless America!
