Makeup Moment: M.A.C. So Chaud By The Seine...
Taking a wee break from the Fall beauty trends today. It's been a crazy September. Back-to-school, TIFF, shoots, and weddings oh my! I'm not complaining, but lately my mind has been drifting and dreaming of far away places like my trip to Paris back in April. I never did tell you how M.A.C. So Chaud lipstick and I fell in love in Paris...
If I want to glam it up a bit but don't have a lot of time, doing a bright bold lip is my go-to. My time was much better spent sipping the famous Angelina's hot cocoa in the Tuileries. Much thanks to my bold lippies and saving me time!
I wanted a orange-red matte lipstick and after much "serious" research, I decided M.A.C. So Chaud was the winner. It's matte without being too drying like their matte lipsticks of the past and gives me the richest pop of colour a gal could ask for. I found myself reaching for this lipstick a lot. We spent time by the Seine watching the boats go by, buying posters and post cards from street vendors, doing goofy poses in front of the Louvre with the Eiffel Tower always in the background. Even after noshing on many buttery, flaky croissants So Chaud still stayed on with barely any touch-ups needed.
This lipstick will forever have a special place in my beauty stash. After all, we did share Paris together...

Faceshape!
Blush For Your Face Shapes
Most people can apply blush to the apples of the cheeks (that's the bit that sticks out when you smile).
Applying blush to the apples does work for most face shapes but for some of us we need to adapt the application to suit our face shape.
Let's take a look....
Long/Thin Face
Long faces are narrow so to create an oval we need to broaden the face. This can be done by applying blush to the apples and blending it out towards the ear.
Careful not to blend upwards, we need to create an almost horizontal line across the face.
This technique will work on any face that wants to be broader.
Round/Square/Full Face
Round face shape or any face that is on the full side will want to use this type of application to lift the face.
Don't apply the blush too close to the nose and sweep upwards, avoiding the apple of the cheeks as this can make the face fuller.
By sweeping upward you create a lift that thins the face.
Doing the "duck face" helps!
Heart/Inverted triangle/High Cheekbones
These shapes all have great cheekbones, for that reason you want to avoid applying blush too high and instead apply it slightly lower than the cheekbones.
You can apply a small amount on the apple and blend it out but remember to leave a gap at the cheekbones.

Swatches: BFTE Fall Collection
A kind friend was sweet enough to send me samples of the BFTE Fall collection which came out recently. It was limited and, as far as I know, sold out in just days. I'm so grateful to get to see these in person because they are just beautiful! Here's a few swatches for you, make sure you click to view them full-size!
(Swatched dry on bare, lotioned skin):
From left: Sycamore, Sassafras, Sweetgum, Silver Maple. |
They're all named after trees which I think is lovely. All shades seem to be pretty much satin/shimmer without a lot of glittery stuff all over; Sassafras is so bright and metallic! I like each of the shades but my favorite is probably Sycamore, just because it's so pretty and I've really been digging bronzey neutrals lately. All in all, another hit from BFTE! I'm looking forward to their upcoming Halloween collection!
Thanks for reading!
