Beauty Buzz: IMATS Toronto 2012!

The event of the year for makeup enthusiasts in Toronto is fast approaching! If you haven't heard about IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) Toronto, here is all the info you need to know. Open to everyone!

What: IMATS Toronto
When: November 17 (8:30 am - 5 pm) & 18 (10 am - 5 pm)
Location: The Toronto Congress Center North Hall
650 Dixon Rd

For me, it's time to restock the kit with some makeup must-haves. Check out my shopping list!

1. bdellium Brushes: I discovered this brand at last year's IMATS and now I can't get enough. A while ago I sadly lost my face makeup brushes - devastating for a makeup artist! I bought some cheapie brushes to hold me over until this year's IMATS. Can't wait to restock with some new bdellium brushes! For past reviews click here.
2. yaby: I took advantage of yaby's pop-up sale in Toronto and fell in love with their shadows, highlighters, and custom palettes! Now I want to pick up a couple of blushes in peachy pink and baby doll pink.
3. OCC Lip Tars: I will be surprised if I can get the shades I want. OCC is a popular booth at IMATS. I'm hoping to pick up some bridal friendly shades and a couple of shocking shades for fashion work. Fingers crossed!
4. Nigel Beauty Emporium: This is a must-visit booth for cheap deals on lashes and mascara wands! For past reviews click here

I am also hoping to catch Lottie's workshop on working in fashion. I look forward to seeing some old friends! Stay tuned for my IMATS haul!

What's on your IMATS shopping list?

TIFF 2012: Celeb Central!

Here I go again with the lack of posting! Please forgive me as I've been dashed into the madness that is TIFF in Toronto! I've had the fun pleasure of working with my fellow "angels" at the Jackie Gideon Beauty Bar in The Ritz doing what I love - makeup! If you're looking for red-carpet worthy hair and makeup be sure to book one of us for your special event!

Here are some of my favourite leading ladies who I may have or may not have seen (ahem, if I told you I'd have to kill you!)! Who have been your red carpet favourites so far?

I just love Kate's everyday boho-chic style, but she knows how to clean up on the red carpet. Gorgeous!

The dress isn't my favourite but I loved Emily Blunt's bright pop of colour on the lips.

Ms. Cotillard can do know wrong in my books. I love her fashion sense and her ability to take beauty risks on the red carpet. She always looks amazing!

Keira Knightley is always a crowd favourite. I LOVE her dress and her classic makeup and classic chignon goes pairs beautifully.

Who doesn't love Kristen Wiig?? She's hilarious. Her look might have some go either way, but I love the colour and flapper-inspired design of this dress. The royal blue shoes are gorgeous.

Beauty Buzz: Strike A Pose With Cover FX's Derek Selby!

Hello Makeup Junkies! It's been a week since I've come back from Paris and I'm trying to adjust to the madness that is my life. There's definitely no easing back into the routine of things when you have kids!

To kick off my first post in May, I'm calling out all the Cover FX fans to come out May 10 from 1 pm - 2 pm at the Bay/Queen St. location and strike a pose with Cover FX National Makeup Artist and Cityline Beauty Expert, Derek Selby! I pretty much watch Cityline Fashion Friday's religiously and love watching Derek do the makeovers. You can be sure to see him working with some of his favourite Cover FX products.

An oldie but a goodie, you can read about my SkinPrep FX review here. I've become a big fan of Cover FX's foundation that also doubles as a concealer. It's a staple in my kit and I use it on all my clients. They are very easy to blend and can be sheered out if you need a lighter coverage. MintTint FX in Pink Copper (will have to do another post with a swatch) has become a new favourite gloss! I adore the shade because it's quite unique from a lot of glosses I own. The pink and copper together give it a good mix of warmth that really works for all skin tones. I remember at the first blogger event Cover FX had, I fell in love with the #160 brush and now I own 2 of them. It's that good. It really buffs the foundation into the skin without leaving visible streaks and it just feels so super soft! What's not to love about a healthy glow? Bronzed FX in Golden Peach  is another one of those shades that looks good on everyone. I've even seen Derek use it on the eyes as a shadow and it works!

If you're in the area, be sure to pick up Derek's favourite products and get your photo taken with him!

Products were sent for editorial consideration and I truly love them.
