Day 40: OCC polish swatches

Hello! For my slightly late Day 40 I bring you swatches of 2 nail polishes I picked up at IMATS a few weeks ago. These are OCC Cosmetics "Rx" and "Beta". (Just like the lip tars :D)
You'll want to enlarge the photos to really see the colors:
One stroke of each: Rx on left, Beta on right. With flash.
No flash.
I only had time to swipe each color on half a nail, lol. This is just one coat so it looks a bit sheer, but you can build it a bit with further coats. The finish is almost matte so if you like a glossy finish you'll definitely need a topcoat. I love both these colors, Rx is a really unique bold blue and Beta is a practically NEON orange! These are also 3-Free which is nice. :)

Have you tried any OCC polishes? Which are your favorites?

Day 39: NOTD by singinferyoo

For Day 39, here's a mani my sister Abby (singinferyoo) did last week. She was in a hurry so took the pic before she could clean it up around the edges, lol. I thought it was cute, especially the little blue accent nail with the glitter. :)

Products:

-Sinful Colors "Innocent" (green)
-Sinful Colors "Pearl Harbor" (shimmer over green)
-OCC "Rx" (blue)
-Wet N' Wild "Party of Five Glitters" (over blue)

She forgot to paint Pearl Harbor over her middle nail too, lol. I still thought it was cute though.
Done any cute manis lately? :3

Days 35-38: NYX Candy Glitter Liner swatches

Did everyone have a nice weekend? I saw the Avengers and it was AWESOME. Best movie I've seen in a long time! My weekend was quite busy and as a result I lost a few days of blogging.. you can't blame me for being human and having a life, right? ;D I don't think I can do posts for each day I missed so instead I'll just pick up where I left off and pretend it never happened. A few days isn't a big deal ;P

Today I decided to take some swatches of the NYX Candy Glitter Liners I got from IMATS a few weeks ago. I'll also talk a little about what I think of them, so if this interests you then please keep reading! And don't forget to click the pictures for more detail and truer color!
I generously dipped/swiped each color about 3 times for these swatches.
These 3 are my favorite, so pretty. I used Crystal in a recent look and it was lovely. I like that it's neutral with multicolored sparkles so it goes with pretty much anything. My sister used Aqua in a recent look as well and it's gorgeous. El Dorado reminds me of Christmas since the main colors are gold, green and red. I need to use this in a look soon too!
I used Purple in a recent look and I like it. it's just a straight dark purple glitter. Mocha Latte however.. it's very strange. Not like the rest at all. I don't know if it's this shade in general or I just got a bad one, but you can see the difference in the swatch; first of all the glitter itself is much finer than the others, almost more like a shimmer than actual glitter. Secondly, the consistency is very thin and runny, like the base is made of water instead of a gel like the others. As a result it doesn't apply well at all. I'm bummed because it looked like such a pretty copper color. :(
With flash.
Here is Crystal with NYX "Snow" loose glitter patted over top; they are very similar and go perfectly together! A friend sent me a sample of this glitter a while back and I absolutely love it<3
With flash.
Out of focus for sparkle effect!
Out of focus again; you can really see how Crystal/Snow "glows", so pretty!
So there you go, I hope you enjoyed these photos! Do you own any NYX Candy Glitter Liners? If so, which ones and how do you feel about them? :)

Mother's Day Giveaway Winner!

I was BEYOND frustrated till about...well maybe I still am a touch. Blogger wasn't letting me post this at the time I wanted to (10). I realized, like a FOOL, that I was logged into two different accounts and that's why it wouldn't work. So ALL user error on my part there friends, sorry!!! But I did want to post the winner that was chosen by Random.org, as always. This time good ole "random" chose.....
EMILY!!!
Just email me at dollcosmetics@gmail.com and let me know where your mom would like her $25 gift card to and her address so she can get her special gift by Mother's Day =). Congrats to your mom and to YOU for having such a great one! ; ) Be sure to celebrate your mom's this Sunday and let them know how grateful you are for the wonderful things that they do!!! I'll be off this weekend to celebrate our 8th anniversary with the hubs but I will for SURE be back to get cute little homemade cards from my two little men =). I also wanted to give a shout out to my dear friend Shalee who just had her FIRST little smooshy just in time for Mother's day, YAY!!! Here is a shot of her maternity pictures where yours truly did the makeup.
He is here now, a doll and I love him already! Can't wait to hear the name they settle on =). Now this is what Emily had to say about her cute mom:

I think I have the best mother in the world! She raised 5 wonderful (slightly rebellious :)) kids, and has a dozen beautiful grandchildren, whom she can't seem to get enough of. However, she doesn't look nearly old enough to even be a grandmother! On top of that she built her own quilt pattern business called Cotton Way, and has been enjoying it's success for almost 21 years! And working her buns of every one of those years. Now she has even designed fabric lines for Moda! She is such a busy woman, and she seems to balance everything in her life with such grace. She's loves her business, but family always came first. She's supported us in all that we do, and always puts others needs before her own, and I think she deserves a little pampering all to herself!

Beauty Buzz: Strike A Pose With Cover FX's Derek Selby!

Hello Makeup Junkies! It's been a week since I've come back from Paris and I'm trying to adjust to the madness that is my life. There's definitely no easing back into the routine of things when you have kids!

To kick off my first post in May, I'm calling out all the Cover FX fans to come out May 10 from 1 pm - 2 pm at the Bay/Queen St. location and strike a pose with Cover FX National Makeup Artist and Cityline Beauty Expert, Derek Selby! I pretty much watch Cityline Fashion Friday's religiously and love watching Derek do the makeovers. You can be sure to see him working with some of his favourite Cover FX products.

An oldie but a goodie, you can read about my SkinPrep FX review here. I've become a big fan of Cover FX's foundation that also doubles as a concealer. It's a staple in my kit and I use it on all my clients. They are very easy to blend and can be sheered out if you need a lighter coverage. MintTint FX in Pink Copper (will have to do another post with a swatch) has become a new favourite gloss! I adore the shade because it's quite unique from a lot of glosses I own. The pink and copper together give it a good mix of warmth that really works for all skin tones. I remember at the first blogger event Cover FX had, I fell in love with the #160 brush and now I own 2 of them. It's that good. It really buffs the foundation into the skin without leaving visible streaks and it just feels so super soft! What's not to love about a healthy glow? Bronzed FX in Golden Peach  is another one of those shades that looks good on everyone. I've even seen Derek use it on the eyes as a shadow and it works!

If you're in the area, be sure to pick up Derek's favourite products and get your photo taken with him!

Products were sent for editorial consideration and I truly love them.
