Spice Girls Contest

I decided to join Whit's contest, and thankfully I did have the time today to do a look. It didn't turn out the way I had expected it to because some of the e/s wouldn't pack on and just kept fading--I'm talking to you CS silver eyeshadows!

I decided to do a look based on Scary Spice (http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f370/delandscr18/scary_spice.jpg). Well, she was my inspiration, but essentially I made "my own" Spice Girl.

I didn't really like Scary Spice as a kid...I wanted to be like Posh. But in general I used to love the Spice Girls--that was...whoa, back in 2nd grade! Lol...I think 2nd or 3rd. I don't really remember anymore. But anyway...

My Spice Girl name is "Danger Spice"--tacky but, sorry! Couldn't think of anything else. :P Besides, I think the colors remind me of those caution tape thingies.

Stuff used (some of the single e/s didn't get used just didn't want to take them out of the container)

And of course pictures, which DO NOT give the vibrancy of the yellow justice.

I had fun with the hair, but it was a hell to undo--had to shower to get all the hairspray out so I could untangle everything!

Here so you can see my jacket of awesomeness

Tried to do a scary spice look thing..didn't work XD

Trying to look fierce

Had to throw this one in, it looked pretty!

Coastal Scents/Dollface 28 Neutral Palette Review, and Tagged!

Hi again, everyone! How are you all today? Thankfully my cold is starting to subside, and I can breathe again (but now my stomach is acting up, grr). Thanks to everyone who wished me to get well soon. :) I really appreciate it.

Anyway, today I finally got my Dollface 28 Neutral Palette (and yes it is the same as the Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Palette) and my Dollface black gel eyeliner. I was so excited to get it, I actually sat by the window so I could look out and see if there was anyone at the gate...every noise made me look/peek! It's sad, I know, but I was really excited. Hehe. Couldn't help it! When the Air21 delivery guy finally arrived I was practically squealing with happiness.

Kudos to Pearl of Dollface Cosmetics for packing everything up so nicely! Look at all that bubblewrap~

Black gel eyeliner (a bit of a toughie to open but I love how well-protected it is)

The 28 palette. As you may notice there was some moisture around some of the e/s pots...but that was quickly wiped away. Another thing you may notice is the fact that the tray in which the pots are sitting in is not plastic, it is cardboard. I love that it's sort of a 'green' effort, but...I wonder if it'll keep like that?

Of course, I have swatches for you! Sorry my arms are a bit hairy. :( Swatches are by row. One swipe each.

Of course, here is my review!

I like:
  • Very very good value for money!
  • Good range of colors--highlight and contouring as well
  • Good balance between matte and shimmer e/s
  • Good color pigmentation for most e/s
  • Glides on smoothly, very blendable
  • Big e/s pots, as big as a five peso coin or a VOV single e/s pot
  • Thin and sleek, easy to tote around if you're travelling somewhere
  • The cute Dollface Cosmetics sticker at the front of the palette

I don't like:
  • The packaging of the product--I'm still wondering why the inside isn't plastic. Maybe it is, just the thin sort of plastic? Oh well. ^_^
  • No mirror in the case!
  • Looks fragile
  • Pigmentation of e/s was inconsistent--some very pigmented (i.e. dark & shimmery colors), some not so pigmented and hardly showed up (whites, etc)
All in all I think:
  • This is a really good palette, and while I am disappointed in some aspects, I am happily soothed in other aspects. I'm glad I got it, and I can't wait to play with it!
Will I repurchase?
  • Yes! If I ever need to again, haha. I don't think I'd be able to use all the e/s up though. XD
Again, thank you to Pearl of Dollface Cosmetics for a good experience in general. You can buy this palette and other Coastal Scents palettes from her at a significantly cheaper price at:

(She is based here in the Phils)

Moving on, the lovely Ms. Cheysser tagged me, so now I have to show you my meager but growing  makeup collection! I have more things on the way (shipping takes a while) so I can't wait to add all that to my stuff. But still... I'm practically ashamed considering all the makeup you gals have. >.<

At least my makeup collection has moved from this:

Into... this! (thus displacing and making my sewing supplies homeless for now) [I used to keep my makeup in a traincase but I didn't want to wear it out! :(]

And the contents:

Top drawer:

face stuff (concealers, foundations/powders, blushes, mu removers, wipes, primer, bronzer)

2nd Drawer:

Lip stuff! One day I will have enough lip stuff to fill the entire drawer >:]

Third drawer:
On top: repurposed utensil tray. I used it to store my brushes (center), sponges (top), mascara, eyeliner pencils (right) and single e/s + lancome quad +e/s base + gel eyeliner in the left side.

Under it is this: my 3 pairs of falsies, my 3 palettes (PAC, CS 88 matte, CS/DF 28 neutral, 2 quads)

And that concludes this post. :) Gia, I tag you for this one. :P Oh, and I tag anyone else who wants to do it! Show your makeup collection!

Anyway, I have to go to bed now. Have a nice day, ladies! Leave me some love. :P

1950's pinup

Instead of resting up today because I'm sick, I joined Sabrina's 1950's pinup look contest. I couldn't help it, I was bored so I just did my best! I even tried to curl my hair but...alas, teh hair would not cooperate. :/ Pff.

I used:
Face The Face Shop makeup primer in green, Ellana intense coverage foundation in hazelnut latte, Ellana finishing powder in espresso con panna, Ellana blush in lust, ELF blush in glow, Aziza blush duo for highlight

Eyes PAC palette (gold, brown and black), MAC Bagatelle e/s, Elianto shimmer e/s in Ivory, Aido shimmer/glitter powder in gold, ELF brightening eyeliner in black, Elianto stay-on eyeliner in black, no-brand false eyelashes, Aido eye putty (for lash glue), Cinema Secrets mascara

Lips Revlon lipstick in Copperglaze Brown

Please ignore the splotchiness of my skin, it's my skin asthma acting up.

I know the blush looks uneven here, but I swear it's because I had a lamp coming from the other side so it caught the shimmer and made the pink disappear. O_O

Why yes, I did dress up for this!

Look, falsies! I'm so proud of myself, it only took me one try this time!! I'm starting to love falsies...I think I'm gonna get more. :D

Here I tried a few pinup poses but they didn't really work out -- hey, it's hard to take pictures on tripod you know! Plus it was so hot, I was sweating my makeup off! Not to mention I'm sick.

I know, I need to lose some weight :(

I hope you liked it! :D I had fun.

I hate being sick!

I don't know how I came down with this bug, but when I woke up yesterday I had the telltale sign--throat ache and hoarseness. I hate it! It's summer, I shouldn't be sick! But I figure...well, it has to be the alternating weather. Super hot, then cold when you go into a mall or something... Okay well it's not weather, just temperature. I also have the feeling that the night at Metro Bar aggravated my cold, because it was hot in there (the a/c couldn't handle it), and really really smoky.

These few days that I'll be sick, Decolgen Forte will be my best friend.

So since I'm sick, I don't want to play with makeup today (or tomorrow, if I end up not going to school because I have a slight temperature). I don't want you to see me when I'm sick! I'd scare all my dear readers away, I don't want that. :( Instead, I think I'll use the time to read around all your blogs and learn from you. That, and I'll use this time to wash my brushes and let them dry (been meaning to but keep forgetting to! Gross, I know!). Oh, and oops! Since I might end up skipping class..I'll just be finishing my readings. Might as well do schoolwork so I won't be too left behind. Trying to get a good grade here, after all!

Everybody needs a little down time, right? I think I'll use mine to reorganize my priorities, meet more people, make more friends, and learn new things! Not bad for a normally lazy girl. Ever since I started blogging I've gotten so addicted to it, and makeup, of course!

So thanks to all the friends I've made so far, I'm really glad I met you all. :) Can't wait to read your blogs!

I've been taaaaagged!

The lovely Sarah tagged me for a survey--yay fun! I'm actually in the middle of getting sick (runny nose, cough here and there... I blame it on the stupid weather!) and I was thinking about making another video when I read that I got tagged. So Sarah--thanks for saving me the trouble and possibly keeping me from getting even more sick! Haha.

What is your current obsession?
MAKEUP! I'm so addicted to it, I swear...It's practically all I think about sometimes. It's good though, keeps my mind off other bad stuff. Lol.

What is your weirdest obsession?
When I'm at school (uni) I have to have a pencil case full of pens--this means 2 mechanical pencils, 2 little packs of refill pencil lead, 3 black pens, a blue pen, markers, a gluestick, a stapler+staple wire and mini scissors. If I leave the house without it by accident, I feel incomplete the entire day..and basically incompetent. Odd, huh? XD Also, I always have to have at least two pens.

What are you wearing today?
Uhh... A shirt that I got in SM Hypermart (kinda like walmart if you ask me)...it's purple and you can see it in the post before this one. And...a pair of shorts. Can't blame me, It's summer and it's hot! At least I'm just stuck at home.

What's your favorite comfort food?
Junkfood and soda. Sigh sigh!

What would make today special?
Today already is special! :)

What would you like to learn to do?
Basically... makeup, professionally.

What’s the last thing you bought?
Well technically I haven't bought it yet since I'm paying for it tomorrow, but the CS 28 neutral palette and black gel eyeliner from a local distributor.

What are you listening to right now?
Crickets and light rain.

What is your favourite weather?
Overcast, slightly windy, not too hot and not too cold.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
Not to be an impulsive buyer. I would have to say that and...to get a 4.0 QPI (aka GPA) this summer term.

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
She is very pretty, and has really good taste! And she is very sweet, too.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
US or Australia. Working toward it already! Sorta.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
I'm going with Laura on this one, Money honey! <-- Ditto, Sarah!

If you could swap lives with anyone for one day who would it be and why?
Jeffree Star. Odd one, I know, but Jeffree is amazing at makeup, and she (he?) doesn't care what anyone thinks bout her (him?). Basically I just adore her/him XD I'm confused with the pronouns, sorry.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
That's tough. I don't have any money though..so...I would just stay at home!

Which language do you want to learn?
More Spanish.

What do you look for in a friend?
Someone who is sweet, down-to-earth, fun, easy to talk to, and crazy like me (in a good way haha)

Who do you want to meet in person?
Whoa...a lot of people. Don't get me started!

What’s your favourite type of music?
I also have a versatile taste, but I'm mostly into rock.

What is your favourite piece of clothing you own?
Wow...a top I bought from 168 for $6. It's gray, belted, v-necked, and prettyyy.

What is your dream job?
MUA. Maybe photographer too.

Any favourite models?
Female... Heidi and Gisele maybe. Male..Mathias Lauridsen and Boyd Holbrook...and uh. I'm sure there's tons others. XD

If you had £100 now what would you spend it on?
Capital for a small business or...you guessed it! Makeup.

Thing you wish you could change in your past?
My...turn for the worse. Eating-habits wise.

Fashion pet peeve?
Socks or stockings with open-toed sandals.

Do you admire anyone’s style?
Dita Von Teese, Marcia Cross, Kat Von D, some others

Describe your personal style.
Casual. Jeans and a shirt all the way! When I'm at uni, at least. Otherwise...I'm all over the place. No money for wardrobe.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mango mango mango!

What is your favourite makeup brand?
This...is tough. I can't say yet since I have a loooot of makeup brands to try since I'm new to the scene.

Do you get enough beauty sleep? Yes or no, and why?
No... I get this weird feeling that sleep wastes my time. :/

Okay, here's the rules:
1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.

2. Tag eight other people.

An attempted look + Elianto brush set review

So last night my aunt, mom and I went to Metro Comedy Bar, where most of the acts and comics are gay guys. And one specific acts, the Foxy Ladies, caught my attention. Not just because they were funny, and crap they were sexy (One of them had Beyonce's figure in Dreamgirls--I swear because they were lipsinging the song from it), but because their makeup was amazing! Amazing amazing cut crease work and theatrical stuff. When they were going around asking for tips I actually considered giving them one just because their makeup was so amazing. But...alas, I am broke and saving for future purposes.

Last night I told myself I would give it a shot--I mean, doing a look based on theirs, and I think I did an okay job. I definitely need a hell of a lot of practice (especially with the freaking false eyelashes, I must've applied them 10 times just to get it right), but well... gotta start somewhere right? I didn't do so well with the cut crease, mine wasn't so sharp--but this is partly because I've had to reapply my shadow over and over whenever putting the falsies on screwed it up and believe me it was a lot of times! Anyway.... here are pictures:

Yes, you can see that I suck with the eyelash application. I used too much glue (I did let it dry though) and well...the lashes were hard to work with. For a total noob at false eyelashes, I tried to be pretty adventurous and oops! Faaaail! Oh well, this is how you learn, right? :x And PS, I know I look silly! XD

And now, onto my very very first review: The Elianto 8pc brush set!

I bought this set at Landmark Trinoma for 999php (almost $20). The SA claimed they were made of goat hair. I don't know, I can't really tell. Sometimes SA's will tell you BS to sell you stuff...and I found this is mostly true when they are trying to sell brushes.

Anyway...

PROS
  • Cheap! For 999php for 8 brushes it comes down to about 125php per brush
  • Goat hair (or so they said) is supposedly good for blending, at first it was soft and not scratchy
  • Good coverage from the powder brush and blush brush, good control from the e/s brushes
  • Comes with all the essentials (This is what attracted me to it mostly)
  • Sleek design makes the brushes look expensive
  • Comes in a leather case (zippered) that is pretty fashionable
  • Very good for beginners (like me) and practice
CONS
  • Hair/bristles SHED SHED SHED even if the brushes are new and have never been washed. This is a very big con for me because they shed as I am using them. Otherwise I would not have cared very much.
  • Stray bristles!

  • After washing the powder brush, it became VERY scratchy and rough on the face. Because of this I am thinking about getting the ecotools powder brush or the Ellana buffer brush.

TIPS
  • SKIP IT! Like I said this is good for beginners, for practice. I'm going to stick with this set until all the bristles fall out or something...as for now I'll be focusing on buying more makeup (yeah yeah I know, I shouldn't spend all my moneyyy)
  • That said, be careful handling the brushes, they seem rather fragile to me--don't forget to wash them still though
WILL I REPURCHASE?
That is a big NO!I would rather spend my money on better quality brushes.

Any suggestions for what I can replace this brush set with? :) Nothing too expensive please! I am just a student still after all.
