Some recent looks :)

 This is an update with a few makeup looks I haven't posted yet; I think I mentioned the computer issues I've been having, and that extends to pictures. I got a new used laptop this past weekend but in the transfer process, everything I'd saved on my harddrive since August was erased, including all my makeup pictures. :( I've managed to find some here and there on my sister's laptop and my camera card (thank goodness I don't erase my cards right away!) so it's not a complete loss. I just wanted to get these posted before something else happens, lol!

Now, on to the looks! (Please click for max detail!)

This was my look for Christmas day, a green/gold semi-smokey cat eye and bright red lip.

I left my brows naked, lol. I didn't have tons of time to do makeup since we traveled to another state for lunch with family, but my Aunt told me twice how much she loved my red lips. Later on I also added Lime Crime Makeup's Carousel Gloss in Candy Apple which added a gorgeous glossy shine and a sparkling ruby finish. Love it♥

This was a quick look I did to go out for sushi with my family on Saturday.

And um I think that's about it. I actually filled in my brows a little for this look using the Naked Basics palette; man, that little cutie does everything! (Review coming soon!) I also didn't realize my lips were still a little stained from the Revlon Cherries in the Snow lippie I'd been wearing the night before; that's what those bright pink spots are.

Naughty or Nice: Miss Conduct collection

Naughty or Nice: Miss Behavior collection

Here are all the colors swatched dry on bare, lotioned skin. With flash.

 The colors are beautiful, both individually and as a collection. The concept means you can use either collection to create a look that's either Naughty or Nice, depending on your mood. 

Even though they aren't typical "holiday" colors, I think they work well together; you should be able to use all three colors from either set to create several beautiful looks, or mix and match for even more options. ;)

I kept trying to do this brown justice but it's so hard to photograph!

A deep matte blue with lots of gold and silver sparkles give this color an almost teal appearance, especially when used with a sticky base. The second color is a pretty patina green with a satin finish and some gold sparkles. The last color is very complex; a dark grayish-brown base, almost leaning purple, that blends out to a mostly matte lighter brown with a rusty bronze sheen and sparse blue sparkles. It's really interesting and pictures don't do it justice.

These were swatched over Darling Girl Cosmetics Glitter Glue. The first color is a dark almost black base with tons of light violet-blue sparkles; as you can see, when used over the glitter glue the sparkles give it an extremely bright metallic appearance. The second color is a dusty mauve with a touch of plum in the base; it has a satin finish and some gold sparkles. It's a very pretty neutral. The third color is a gray-tinged white with plenty of sparkle, quite unique to my collection.

Most of these shades looked different from every angle so I tried to capture the nuances of each one. Try to see the blue sparkles in the brown color, they're there but hard to pick up on camera. They're a little more noticeable in person but not much, they just give a subtle effect.

All colors did well over the glitter glue; I was surprised at how well the brown shade performed since it's mostly matte, but the glue really brought out the sheen in it!

Now they're swatched over NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil.

If I had to choose favorites, off the bat I'd probably say the pink, green, and brown. I think they'd look amazing used together in a look!

BFTE Halloween collection swatches

 As a New Jersey-an myself I have to say I hope everyone on the East Coast is recovering after Sandy... my family and I were fortunate to make it through the storm without power for only the first night, and minor damage to our homes. I know there are many with extensive damage to deal with, and that's after power is restored to one and all. My thoughts are with everyone now suffering from loss of property and loved ones.

Halloween Collection 2012 from BFTE Cosmetics:

 Thanks to Crystal the amazing owner of BFTE Cosmetics, last week I was able to acquire a Halloween collection before they were sold out. The colors come in a cute little take-out container and secured with a shiny black ribbon. I like the vampire artwork :)

There's a list of ingredients too.

It came with this hilarious set of plastic glow-in-the-dark fangs with liquid candy "blood", lol.

My thoughts:

I'm so impressed by this collection; not only are the shadows themselves gorgeous, but the entire concept is very well thought out. I adore the names, I think they fit really well with the colors and are an interesting alternative to the typical witch/ghost/zombie themed Halloween collections.

Descriptions:

There are two mostly matte shades with just a slight sheen, a pearl shimmer shade, and two sparkly shades. 

-Full Moon Rising: a golden ivory pearl, looks like it'll be a gorgeous highlight.

-Guilty Pleasures: an antique bronze brown with golden sparkles.

-Some Girls Bite: a matte warm blood red with slight sheen.

-Sinister Instincts: a gun metal silver with lighter silver sparkles.

-Dark Prince: matte deepest blackened purple with very slight sheen.

There was a second version of the collection available with a lipcolor but I think they sold out early on. Without the lipcolor this collection was $25 from http://www.bftecosmetics.com/
I'm not sure if these shadows will eventually be added to the permanent line, they often are but it usually takes 4-6 months before they're available for individual purchase.

Day 56 Becky's Patriotic Makeup Tutorial

Disclaimer: there are many things I would do differently that I have learned over the last year (this is from 2011) I have tried to type in my corrections and advice along with the original photos. Enjoy and please send us a photo if you try this, we'd love to see it!!

Step one : fresh face and then do your foundation/concealer or whatever you like. (I waited a while, forgive my naked face for the photos!)

Step 2, make a plan! I used Beauty From The Earth Mineral shadows.

Step 3 after using primer over face, Use NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in: Milk

4: Sticker stars!

5: (Should have started with the Red crease, but here I began with my base color.Peacock.)

Added red to my crease. and added more peacock to my lids. 

Then 6: start adding Milk pencil to bottom lid area.

7: Using a fine brush, DAB/PAT red/dark pink shadow in bottom lid area. note: Black area = auto red-eye correction! 

There should be no black eyeshadow whatsoever.

8: Using Blue liquid eyeliner from mark. girl in Blue Chrome, add blue stripes and winged line to top and bottom area.

9: Adding more definition, don't be afraid to thicken the eyeliner.

10: Remove stars and using white eyeliner, add a little to the vacant area. 

Touching up more of the bottom red, and added some peacock to the bottom eyeliner. See the green sheen

11: Using white eyeliner, add definition to the outer wings, around the red.

12: personal choice- using the Blue Chrome eyeliner, I added some drawn stars. I could have done it on a little paper and pressed the shape on while wet, rather than drawing in the mirror. xD

13: Don't forget your mascara and curled eyelashes. Also defining your eyebrows is a good idea. Using Spellbound, a dark blue- I defined my crease over the blue, and the eyeliner a little better

14: I used False eyelashes for this, but in the end they weren't much different from my natural ones.

15: For my lips, I consequently used a white base and then put red over it, this made my lips look more full, we also added red glitter which really made it dazzle. *NOTE BY EMILY: The red lippie is #911D "Stoplight Red" by Wet N' Wild. I know you wanted to ask! ;)*

OK firecracker! you're ready!
