Eyeshadow Palettes

Jennifer brings up a common problem, one that I for sure had before I found eyeshadow palettes from MAC. I had many colors and loved them but hated always needing to sift through all my "pots" to find the right one. By pots, I am referring to the original casings that MAC eyeshadows come in. MAC palettes can be found in all MAC stores (not the counters)......and EBAY!!!!! Don't you just love that place? That's where I got mine. They will run you about 12-15 dollars and are VERY worth it!!! They hold up to 15 shadows and you can start organizing them like the ones you see here by color. When you get your palette you no longer need to buy the shadows in their pots. Now you just order the refills or buy them (only) at a MAC store and they are only $10.50 so it's a better deal. Right now on coastalscents.com they are claiming to have a palette that has openings the same size as MAC for only $8, but after shipping you are basically paying the same price only like 50 cents less. So I would personally get MAC ones because you know you are getting quality. A great way to "depot" your colors that you have now so that you can put them in your new palette is found on the side bar. It will explain everything so that you do it in a way to not harm or crack your colors that you love. Hope that helps!!!!

Make Those Blue Eyes POP!!!

This is probably one of my most requested tutorials. Not this one specifically, but in general. A lot of girls want to know what colors will make their blue eyes stand out. I've always dreamed of having super dark hair and beautiful blue eyes. It's just a combo that I find stunning! Alas, I'm a brown eyed girl ;) but still love it! I have done a tutorial for the summer time and here is one for the winter. It is the same general idea but a few different colors.
P.S. Be looking soon on the blog for a giveaway from Shabby Apple!!!!! Here is the outfit I wore in the video =):

Here's a recent eye look I did back before my Valentine's look; I hadn't done any fun makeup since before the new year and I just felt like playing! Look: "Christmas Afterparty", and catching up

Yay, I'm back! I'm going to try and catch up on what I've been doing these last few weeks: If you read my last update post, you know I was unable to post since Christmas. The reasons being #1, a death in my family and #2, I ran out of photo storage space on my free blog account. I just purchased more space so now I can finally post again. :)

Picking up where I left off, this is my half of the Christmas photoshoot I did with my brother and sister. (You can see sister Becky's post here.)
Our brother gave us studio photography equipment as a Christmas present, so he helped us figure out how to use it (well, he tried.. lol) and we had a fun photography session. I threw on some quick makeup for the occasion because I figured, why waste a photoshoot? xD
Pics are clickable :)

Some of these are a little awkward lol

I'll try to remember what I used...

-mark. face primer
-CS Camouflage Concealer palette (lightest shade)
-mark. Powder Buff in Nude
-Eye and lip primer from BFTE on eyes (I think)
-NYX JEP in Milk
-Sugarpill pressed eyeshadow in Afterparty (bold blue on lid)
-BH 120 Palette, 1st Edition (Teal, yellow, champagne highlight, and brows)
-UD pencils in Zero (black on upper lid) and Radium (bright blue on waterline)
-Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara in Very Black
-Some kind of blush, don't remember :(
-mark. Juice Gems lip gloss in Juicy Snow Peach
-BFTE shadow in 24K Gold (gold shimmer/glitter on cheekbones but you can't see it in the photos)

Pretty short compered to the usual long list of products, lol. I won the Afterparty eyeshadow in a blog giveaway, I'll post about that soon!

My brother also got me Aperture on my laptop so I've been using that for my pictures. Some of the pictures I'll be posting, including these, will have been edited in Aperture, but I usually only edit slightly for things like cropping/resizing, white balance, sharpening, etc. I might make some kind of picture editing disclaimer to include in my posts, what do you think?
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the pics and I can't wait to show you what else I've been up to! ;) Hope you're all doing well, leave me a note to say hi!

I wrote a walkthrough of my look to go with my entry:

"This is my rainbow snow lady look :) I was inspired by.. just pale colors and frosty-looking skin. Kind of like the White Witch from the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movies. It took me several hours to get it looking the way I wanted and I used a lot of products:
First I used an eye primer from BFTE Cosmetics on and around my eyes, and Smashbox Photo Finish Light primer on my face. Then I used a soft synthetic brush to buff foundation all over my face; I used Revlon Colorstay in Ivory for Combination/Oily skin. Next I used another soft synthetic kabuki-type brush to dust highlighter all over my face, concentrating on my nose and cheekbones; I used Butt Naked eyeshadow from BFTE Cosmetics. For rosy cheeks I used Secret Star blush from Darling Girl Cosmetics on the apples of my cheeks. Next I added the yellow and blue on my cheekbones and temples; for the yellow I used Yellow Brick Road eyeshadow from BFTE Cosmetics, and for the blue I used a combination of aqua shadows in my collection, trying to get the right color and opacity. (It mainly ended up being a combination of BFTE "Cornflower" and Darling Girl "Mystique".) I also used Mystique on my eyelids; it's a pale aqua color with pink sheen, so pretty! I also used a little more BFTE "Cornflower" on my outer corner/crease area; I applied both over NYX "Milk" pencil as a base. Next I used more Butt Naked shadow to highlight heavily all along my browbone to my inner corner/tear duct area, as well as on my eyebrows. Then I applied a Sephora brand white eyeliner pencil along my lower waterline and lashline, winging out at both inner and outer corner. Along there I dusted on a little matte white eyeshadow from my Coastal Scents 88 Palette. After applying false lashes, (Red Cherry #507 with Duo glue), I used a little black liquid liner along my inner lashline because the lashes stopped too abruptly, lol. (Falsies have a hard time fitting to my eye shape :( ) Next I took a piece of Scotch tape and used a snowflake shape-puncher to punch a snowflake-shaped hole in the tape; I stuck it on my temples and down along my cheekbones, dabbed on some Glitter Glue from Darling Girl, and patted on NYX "Snow" glitter, using a concentrated amount. I then peeled off the tape and was left with lovely little glittery snowflakes. Using my fluffy synthetic brush and a small soft paintbrush from a craft store, I blended out the colors with more Butt Naked shadow so they would be soft, and also used it to highlight my face a lot because I wanted a really pearly frosty finish to my skin, almost like Data from Star Trek, haha. Finally I used some foundation on my lips and patted more Butt Naked over them to make them sort of blend into my face a little."
You may have noticed that my lashes look like they're barely attached.. this is an old pair and they're pretty bent up by now. Also my eyes are different shapes; my right eye is more rounded on top which makes applying lashes hard. These did not want to stick on the ends, especially the inner corners! >.<
To make these snowflakes, I used this shape-puncher and Scotch tape:
I couldn't use them more than once so I had to make a new one for each flake x_x The effect was glorious, though!

Over all, I love how this look came out. It may look like I just slapped colors on my face, but I feel that it looks elegant and ethereal and gives a frosty, wintery feel. I could have kept adding darker colors and done a lot of shading and contouring and used lots of dark eyeliner and stuff, but I wanted to keep the look very light. It turned out exactly the way I wanted<3 (Of course if I could do it over again I'd make sure to apply the falsies correctly no matter how many times I had to redo them, lol.)

The contest was supposed to end today but they just announced a weeklong extension so there's still time to enter, people!
Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing my look as much as I enjoyed creating it! Thanks for reading! ^_~
Not sure why these pics look so grey.. the files on my computer don't look like that, this only happened after I uploaded them here.. :(

BFTE EOTD: Sugarplum

BFTE EotD from a few nights ago. On their Facebook page Crystal asked about ideas for Christmas collections and someone suggested a Sugarplum one. I liked that idea and it made me think of this look :)

Products used:

-UDPP
-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Oyster on lid as base (light pink with violet sheen)
-Loreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black liquid liner pen
-Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On liner in Zero (waterline)
-Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara in Very Black
-discontinued brown pencil on brow (finally ran out D;)
-medium brown from CS 88 palette (on brow)
-Coastal Scents Camouflage Concealer Palette, lightest shade (around eye)
-BFTE mineral foundation in Alabaster/Beige mix (around eye)

BFTE colors:
-Serene (pale lilac on inner 1/3 of lid)
-Starstruck (light pinkish purple with pink shimmer on middle of lid)
-Big Ego (deep blackened purple on outer corner and crease)
-Whisper (apricot/violet duochrome all over and around eye)
-Have a Heart (shimmery sparkly dark silver-grey on lower lashline)
-Very Vanilla (matte skin shade to blend and highlight browbone)
-Way Up High (matte white with gold sheen to highlight browbone)
-Triple Berry (sparkly purplish-magenta over black liquid liner)
-Moonlight (shimmery silver-white on tear duct)

The Java Eyemarker I've been nursing since I became a mark. rep like 3 1/2 years ago has finally kicked the bucket. My sister was using it and went "Oh! It just popped out.." I know it's unhealthy to use an eyeliner for that long but I couldn't bring myself to throw it out since they discontinued it a year or two ago. It's been my trusty go-to liner for daily casual eye looks. RIP, Java Eyemarker. :(
Now I need to find a replacement.. I talked my Mom into buying me the 2 limited UD liner sets for Christmas but I'm not allowed to have them yet so I guess I'll make do with black until then lol.

Thanks for reading and happy Monday! (Don't shoot me lol) >.<

My sister's makeup challenge!

Hey guys, I just wanted to share with you all a look done by my sister Becky! She created this look tonight because she felt like playing with my makeup lol. (She doesn't do it very often.) I told her about the new theme for my makeup group; the theme is Galaxy, and she said "Oh that's perfect!" She's an artist and recently spent several days painting multiple space scenes as a background for a picture/project she's working on. So she used those paintings as inspiration for this look!
Check out her paintings and drawings on her DeviantArt :)
This is just one of the scenes she painted and served as part of the inspiration behind her look :) Check out the pics below and feel free to maximize them; I think the colors get dulled in the thumbnails:

Slightly blurry pic which actually shows off the glitter and colors; so pretty!!!

-UDPP
-NYX JEP in Purple Velvet(as base)
BFTE shadows in:
-Blueberry(bright blue shimmer)
-Peacock(bright teal shimmer)
-Triple Berry(reddish-purple shimmer)
-Paris(reddish-pink shimmer)
-Casablanca Nights(matte black w/ blue sparkles)
-Wet N' Wild Holiday 2010 Snow Sprite palette (1st and 6th shades(pale whitish green and deep blackened blue)

I'm really proud of her for creating this look, I think she did such a stellar job! (No pun intended, hehe ;D) The pics don't do it justice, there are so many nuances you can't even see; it really looked like a swirling galaxy with colorful nebulas(nebulae??) and twinkling constellations! Amazing<3
By the way, monday(today!) is Becky's birthday! Happy birthday Beck, I love you! ^,^
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, thanks for reading!<3
