EOTD: Faith (BFTE)

*All products purchased by me except the bb cream which was a giveaway prize, and Faith eyeshadow sample which was a gift. All opinions are my own, I am not being compensated for this post.*
I've been home for a week now but haven't really gotten a chance to do makeup until today. Jet lag is no fun! :<
Anyway, here's a look I did today; I was just going to do something fun, but then my brother said he wanted to take my sister and me to see Wolverine tonight, so I wanted to make this look wearable for that as well. I've been dying to use this eyeshadow from BFTE Cosmetics called Faith; while I was out visiting, Crystal was kind enough to let me have a sample, which I used in this look and I must say, as with most of her products, I'm in love! It's a gorgeous color♥
So happy to have my camera again ^______^
Products:
Face/Cheeks:
-Reviva Labs primer
-Sua Young BB Cream
-mark. loose setting powder
-Darling Girl Cosmetics blush in Neon Trees
-Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, Naked2 as contour (light taupe)
-BFTE Cosmetics Light Bronzer
Eyes:
-Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Milani Shadow Eyez pencil in Almond Cream
-MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
-BFTE eyeshadow in Faith on outer half of lid (shimmery wine-rust shade)
-theBalm "Balm Jovi" Rockstar palette Adagio on inner lid and above crease (light cafe latte matte)
-Urban Decay WOS to blend edges (light cool nude matte)
-Darling Girl Cosmetics eyeshadow in Adoration as highlight (nude pearl)
-BFTE eyeshadow in Butt Naked on tearduct and middle of browbone (low-shimmer vanilla highlight shade)
-Prestige My Blackest Lashes mascara
-Sonia Kashuk concealer quad, lightest shade
Lips:
-Belleme Cosmetics Kiss of Flavor listick in Pink Petal
-Maybelline Color Whisper in Lust For Blush

So besides the light nude matte shadows from palettes which I used to blend out the shadow, I only really used the one color in this look. Faith is a gorgeous eyeshadow, it has sort of a dark base and then the cranberryish shimmer with lighter pink tones. I applied some to my outer lid and then blended it out and up into the crease; then I patted on some more eyeshadow just to the outer lid for concentrated shimmer and color. You can see the difference, it looks like I used a darker crease color. I really like it ;3

If you want to buy Faith you can find it in The Violet Set and also the Soulmate mini collection on BFTE's site, but I don't think they sell it separately at this time.
Thanks for reading!

Review: Silk Naturals Cream Blush in Candy Apple

*Product sent for review. All opinions are my own.
A while back I had the opportunity to try some products from Silk Naturals; I'd never tried this company before but had seen a lot about them on various blogs and such. I'm not reviewing the company today, I will do a more informative post on their website and everything at a later time.

This post features their Cream Blush in shade Candy Apple, a bright warm red!
From the website:

Candy Apple- RED cream blush: $4.50

Candy Apple is seriously RED that blends out into a lovely pink.  It's nicely balanced and should wok for most folks, and gives a natural happy flush to your cheeks.  Candy Apple is super pretty- don't be intimidated by the extreme red in the pic. It's also lovely dotted on over lip balm.  Uber pigmented so a little dab is all you need- use caution if you're pale because it takes less than you think it would.  Candy apple is completely sheer with no shimmer at all.

This is very pigmented, so a little will go a long way.  Dot it on your cheeks to give a little glow, use it to perk up lippies- the sky's the limit.  This color is lip and face safe. NOT eye safe.

Ingredients:  Capric Capryllic Tryglycerides (fractionated coconut oil), Candelilla Wax.  Also contains:  Mica, FD&C Color

Shelf life- at least 1 year.

Cream blushes come packaged in convenient slim tubes just like our lippies! The base is creamy, but blends well, and feels dry.
Natural light swatch on my arm; left is straight from the tube, right is blended out with my fingers.
Flash picture. This shows the color more true, it is a warm shade of red. The natural lighting picture looks a bit too cool.

Since I have a lot of redness in my face and cheeks and tend to wear powder foundation, I have not tried this cream blush on my cheeks. I did however wear it on my lips and I must say, I quite like it:
Wearing Candy Apple Cream Blush on my lips. For blush I'm wearing Cherry Bomb blush from Darling Girl Cosmetics.
I wore Candy Apple on my lips when I went out to brunch last week; the texture is pretty slippery but I found I got better results when I applied heavily, blotted lightly with a tissue, and then applied again. The product is slightly staining but not enough that I would call it a lip stain product. It's more like a very very pigmented balm. There is no shimmer at all, just opaque glossy color, however it is buildable so you can also just dab on a little and rub it with your finger, as the website suggests. That's how I first applied it since I was a bit timid at first lol, but as I got used to the color I slowly built it up to a bold fire-engine-red, as you see in the photo. I really liked how it looked, and I felt that if you're looking for a red that doesn't require a lot of commitment, this might work nicely. Since it's buildable from sheer to full coverage, it can be very versatile depending on your mood, and the stain isn't too hard to remove if you change your mind. I did reapply after eating and drinking since some of the product had worn off a bit on my inner lip area, and left it looking a bit uneven. The more you build it, the more slippery it gets due to the coconut oil in it, but can easily be lightly blotted for a more matte finish.

Summary:
Overall I really like this product and will continue to use it as a lip color! I love that it's made from coconut oil, which I use on my lips every day at home. It has no scent or flavor that I could detect, which to me is always a plus since I'm picky about lip products. The ingredients are few and non-offensive, and the price of $4.50 is appropriate in my opinion. If you're looking for a warm red lip color made with more natural ingredients, I would say give Candy Apple a try :)
*Note: Silk Naturals will be closed from July3-July14 for vacation*

Some new Wet N' Wild swatches

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were awesome. :)I had a a nice Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's with my family, with some crazy stuff in-between; sickness, travels, computer problems, and working, all of which conspired to make me unable to post much. I'm going to try and catch up on the last several weeks so bear with me! ;P
For the first of my catch-up posts I bring you these swatches of 3 Wet N' Wild Mega Last lipsticks I bought recently. I love these lippies and have recently re-discovered how awesome they truly are.
(You should click the pics to see them best!)
I got Cherry Picking, Red Velvet, and Purty Persimmon. Thankfully they all have the names on the stickers; I have an impossible time trying to keep them straight with just numbers.
With flash, left to right: Cherry Picking, Red Velvet, Purty Persimmon. (Taken with my Canon Rebel.)
With flash, L to R: Cherry Picking, Red Velvet, Purty Persimmon. (Taken with a Canon Elph.)
No flash, L to R: Cherry Picking, Red Velvet, Purty Persimmon. (Canon Elph again.)
 Shade descriptions:

-Cherry Picking: This is my favorite of the bunch and one of my top faves of all the Mega Last Lipsticks I own, I'm thrilled to finally have it! It's a gorgeous cranberry red with lots of pink in it. The color looks slightly sheerer in the middle of the swatch but I think that's because I'd already worn it on my lips before I swatched it, so the middle was a bit worn down.
I love these types of pinkish-reds. I think this shade would look beautiful on anybody in any season.

-Red Velvet: I got this one because it was there, and I still have this impulse to buy every red I see lol. This one is a light red that might be nice for folks who are a bit afraid of the color. When I was swatching them all for the first time, this shade appeared to have a slightly sheerer, balmier texture than the other two. It would probably make a nice stain.

-Purty Persimmon: I got this one because I'm also kind of into orange lip products lately; this shade is a very bold orange-coral-red, probably more orange than red but definitely more wearable than 24 Carrot which is a lighter carrot orange. My sister wore Purty Persimmon to a party the other day and it looked stunning with her fair complexion, dark hair and eyes, and the teal eyeliner she was wearing.

All three shades are crazy-pigmented, which is what I adore about these Mega Last lipsticks; there's so much color packed into these tubes for so little cash, you really get bang for your buck.
Me wearing Cherry Picking; looks slightly darker in person, the flash brightens it up a bit. Please excuse my otherwise bare face :)
That's it for this post! I definitely plan to buy every single shade in this line, except maybe the dark brown one. I also want to do a huge swatch-o-rama of all my Mega Last lippies once I can get lip swatches of them all.
Thanks so much for reading and please stay tuned for more posts!

EotD: Ziggy Stardust

 Hello :)
This is an EotD I did a few nights ago for fun. For some reason it's hard to see in the first pic but I used orange and red on the lid; it looks like the red kind of took over but the orange was there, I assure you! I wanted to do a sunset type look using orange, red, and purple/deep blue. Then it sort of morphed into this "80's futuristic" look a'la Ziggy Stardust.. that's what the colors reminded me of, lol.
Products:

-BFTE Cosmetics primer
-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
-BH 120 palette, peachy shade on inner corner of lid
-Sugarpill Flame point on middle of lid
-Sugarpill Love+ on outer third of lid
-Sugarpill Poison Plum on outer corner and crease
-CS 88 Palette, deepest matte blue to deepen crease, blended out over purple, and outer corner of lower lashline
-Sugarpill Royal Sugar under lower lashline
-BFTE Blue Bird on waterline and tearduct
-Sugarpill Tako on browbone
Sugarpill Tiara as highlight, applied on browbone and around/partially over the purple
BFTE Whisper applied over crease to blend purple and silver together
-MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
-Maybelline Mega Plush mascara in Blackest Black
-Duo Dark lash glue
-Andrea Modlash falsies in 53 Black
-CS 88 Palette, various shades on brow

I tried to use Royal Sugar on my lower lashline but it wasn't really sticking so I reverted to an old favorite, BFTE's Blue Bird. It stayed amazingly well on my waterline, better than pencil or anything else I've tried. I think I might have stumbled onto something great :D
Unfortunately, the flash in these pics cut through the silver on my browbone; in person it was more solid and very shiny and looked really cool. I think for certain looks, using a reflective silver instead of a neutral light shadow as a highlight can give a look a really cool effect :)

Swatches: A few BFTE reds and SP Asylum

I since I was comparing some red shadows the other day I decided to swatch a few of my BFTE reds against each other for comparison. You can click the pics to view larger versions!

Swatched dry on bare, lotioned skin:
From left: Isis, Ruby Slippers, Vamp, TGIF, Addicted (all BFTE). Far right is Asylum by Sugarpill.
With flash.
-Isis is one of my favorite BFTE shadows. I got a sample in my very first order long ago and have used it in many looks since. It's an amazing dark base with rusty red-to-bronze duochrome. It's super smooth and metallic and just gorgeous.
-Ruby Slippers is kind of a matte brick red base with silvery sparkles.
-Vamp, another very popular shade; similar to Isis but a bit lighter and has gold sparkles in it.
-TGIF; okay, when I saw this color online I thought it'd be similar to Addicted but it's not at all. It's much lighter and more of a dusty pink, not as red. It also has lots of greenish-gold sparkles.
-Addicted, another of my most-loved most-used shadows. The perfect bright metallic red; leans cool, almost pinkish, but definitely looks red. Whenever I need a red shadow, this is the one I reach for.
-Sugarpill's Asylum: in person there's little distinguishable difference between Asylum and BFTE's Addicted. The main difference is that Asylum has some red sparkles in it, while Addicted has none. (If you look at the bottom of the swatch, you can see the tiny glitters around the edge.) I think Asylum also has a slightly darker base than Addicted so that, coupled with the sparkles gives it slightly more dimension than Addicted. They are both gorgeous colors and as I said, look almost identical in person.
Addicted by BFTE Cosmetics on left; Asylum by Sugarpill Cosmetics on right. No flash.
With flash.
Hope you enjoyed these swatches!

Day 4: Ruby Red Lipstick

It's Day 4 and I had a post planned but life had other ideas.. technical issues have kept me from my intended post but hopefully I can get that up for tomorrow :)

Dream High, property of.. KBS? I guess?

Here's a screenshot from a Korean Drama called Dream High; this was the "older sister" character, a 30-something single reporter/journalist who has a fetish for red wine and younger men, haha. I absolutely loved her signature ruby-red lipstick! I have no idea what brand was used but I'm wondering what a possible dupe for this color might be.. does anyone have any ideas?

What's *your* fave red lipstick? :3

Becky: Pro/Anti Valentines Day Look

A sweet Valentines Day look for those feeling the sugary love and romance
A dark and brooding look of the ANTI-Valentines Day woman scorned and bitter
(and not looking forward to "singles awareness day")

Someday my prince will come :3

Lunar New Year makeup look

It's a bit late but here's the Lunar New Year look I promised myself I'd redo after my epic fail 2 years ago! I wanted to do it last year but just never got around so it, so this year I HAD to redeem myself, lol. I think it turned out better this time ;)
Remember, all pics are clickable!
I did this back on Feb 1st, but I think I can remember what I used:

Eyes:
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight
-NYX JEP Milk
BFTE:
-Halo, inner third of lid (bright yellow-gold with subtle green shimmer)
-Addicted, most of lid (bright metallic rusty pinkish-red)
-Isis, outer corner and lower lashline (dark base with metallic rust-red and bronze shimmer)
-Very Vanilla, to blend edges
-Ornamental, outer corner to inner corner and tearduct and on browbone (pale low-shimmer gold)
-Way Up High, on browbone (matte white with slight gold sheen)
-Queen of Hearts, patted onto outer half of lid (red glitter)
-Darling Girl Cosmetics Glitter Glue (patted lightly onto shadow under glitter)
-Wet n' Wild Mega Liner liquid liner in Black
-Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On pencil in Perversion (waterline)
-Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect mascara in 01 Black
-Andrea ModLash #33 Black falsies

Brows:
-Sephora mini brown eyeliner pencil

Face:
-Smashbox Photo Finish Light primer
-Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin (Ivory/Beige mixed)
-mark. powder

Cheeks:
-Darling Girl blushes in Cherry Bomb and Charming Coral
-BFTE's Ornamental as highlighter

Lips:
-NYX lip pencil in Hot Red
-OCC Lip Tar in Harlot
My messy desk after creating the look; this isn't all the products I used and not everything here was used in this look, but you can see many of the items I used ;)
Elph pic with no flash; sucky color but lifelike texture/dimension.
My lips look like a fish but the eye-makeup looks good; you can see the glitter really well, and also the black smear at the corner of my left eye where my makeup was running due to my eye watering because of something I did.. D;
A couple of things went wrong with this look, like my eyeliner looking wonky because I'm still not comfortable with using the Mega Liner yet, and my eye watering so badly and my eyeballs looking bloodshot, and the lash glue getting all over the eyeliner because I'm still having trouble applying falsies these days lol. I definitely think it's time for some new ones, and some new lash glue! >.<
Over all though I think it's much better than 2 years ago. :D
Thanks for reading!<3

Pink, purple and red Valentine's look with BFTE

I'm not normally one to do holiday looks weeks in advance, but this was for a contest so it's okay. ;) This is my Valentine's look from last week; keep scrollin' for pics+products!

Lips:
-lipbalm
-OCC Lip Tar in Queen (Super bright pink/coral/red)
-mark. Dew Drenched lipstick in Skinny Dip (peachy nude)
-mark. Glow Baby Glow Luxe hook up lipgloss in Lotus Luxe

I was reluctant to use red and purple but since it's for a Valentine's themed contest I did want it to fit the theme, and I think it does; it looks Valentiney and wearable, but still has some personality and flair. At least I hope it does, lol. I loved the gradation of the eyeshadow; the peachy pink blending into melon blending into red turned out well, I think. If I'd been doing a more traditional type of look I would have stopped there, but I added the pop of purple underneath for wow-factor. ;D

Bonus pics!
Unedited photo, complete with derpface!
Taken with my sister's little camera to show texture, though the colors aren't as accurate.
You can see the heart-shaped jewel best here :3
One of the few no-flash pics I took, and the only one I was able to salvage. I need to get my lighting situation sorted out >.<
This shot wasn't necessary but I couldn't leave it out xD
So there you have it! I enjoyed this look immensely; I think it turned out well and isn't something I would have done ordinarily. I hope you enjoyed it too!
Thanks for reading!<33
